The teen star of the hit Disney show Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus has appeared topless in a photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine.
The 15-year-old has already been sprung for posing in provocative pictures, after images of the teen sensation in her underwear reached the public after being posted on her MySpace page.
Over the weekend, Entertainment Tonight began showing commercials throughout their television program revealing the scoop.
Cyrus, daughter of US country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, has admitted to posing for famed photographer Annie Liebovitz for the fashion magazine, but says she thought the pictures would be 'artistic'.
Now highly embarrassed by the way the photos have been portrayed, both Cyrus and Disney have released statements apologising for the incident.
"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus said in a statement released today.
"I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."
The photograph which has circulated the internet shows Cyrus topless, covering herself with a sheet.
Although People magazine has said that Cyrus was not topless, and that the photograph was shot to appear as though she is.
