Lorrie Morgan Files for Bankruptcy
Lorrie Morgan has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in federal court in Nashville, providing a list of creditors including the Internal Revenue Service, attorneys and financial institutions. In court documents, the 49-year-old singer reported assets of $500,000 to $1 million but estimated her debts at between $1 million to $10 million. Morgan filed for bankruptcy in 1992 but later withdrew the petition after settling more than $800,000 in debts. Morgan filed for divorce from Sammy Kershaw in 2007 following his unsuccessful bid to become lieutenant governor of Louisiana. Kershaw filed for bankruptcy shortly before announcing his candidacy.
